Paul Washer – The Prayer Closet

“The only time you can really say that Christ is all I need,’ is when Christ is all you have.” L. Ravenhill

I recently had the privilege of attending the 2009 Revival Conference in Dublin Ireland where Paul Washer was one of the invited speakers. It was very clear to see that Paul is a man of God with a genuine passion to see men and women saved and believers walking close with God in a daily spirit-filled holy life.

Paul Washer is an anointed preacher who preaches with power an uncompromising message and has an understanding of the gospel of Jesus Christ which I have rarely heard expounded by others. Anyone who can sit unmoved and unchallenged under his preaching either has a heart of stone or is comfortable in their “lukewarm” state.

Paul is as comfortable out of the pulpit as he is in it and it was a joy to watch him move around the small Dublin congregation making time to speak to as many as wanted to speak with him; encouraging, counseling answering questions and helping build people up in their faith.

I have no doubt God has His hand upon Paul Washer. What’s his secret? Listen to his testimony in the video below for the answer. His is a life of brokenness; a life surrendered to God.

Brokenness, repentance and surrender are pre requisites for a close relationship with God…it is painful and it is humiliating but it is the only way. God’s power is boundless and it is available to those who walk with Him.

The Lord Jesus cannot live in us fully and reveal Himself through us until the proud self within us is broken and we can say from our hearts with the Apostle Paul I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me” (Galatians 2:20).

This is the essence of true revival, brokenness, repentance and surrender, where the life and love of God will be unleashed and when we shall begin to see God’s power being demonstrated in our hearts and lives and service, and His victorious life will fill us and overflow through us to others. But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” (Acts 1: 8).

There are riches in Thy storehouse,

But, my Lord, we are so poor.

There is power in Thy storehouse,

But the cripple clothes our door.

There is wisdom in Thy storehouse,

But in ignorance we grope.

There’s revival in Thy storehouse,

But we’ve millions without hope.

There is freedom in Thy storehouse,

But Thy people are so bound.

There is glory in thy storehouse,

But it does not shine around.

There is love within Thy storehouse,

But Thy people are so dry.

There’s compassion in Thy storehouse –

Then my Savior, why, oh why

Are Thy people stony — hearted

And our eyes so desert dry?

  1. Bob Scruggs Says:

It seems that Paul is a cool preacher however to say that he is anointed is really overstated ! Thats what the TV preachers claim . Its my understanding the word anointed comes from the Greek translation meaning Christ .So to say that someone is anointed is saying he is Christ !
When I was in the prison ministry if someone said to me that I was anointed I would hide under a rock to dodge a lighting bolt !
