Todd Bentley – Forget Preaching About Jesus…Get People to “Believe in the Angel”

Apparently “God” isn’t interested in the church hearing about Jesus any more. Todd Bentley claims that God wants people to believe in the angel named “winds of change” that supposedly visited Bentley at the beginning of the Lakeland “revival”.

Bentley’s ‘god’ told him, “Todd, you’ve got to get people to believe in the angel”

Galatians 1:8 But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach a gospel other than the one we preached to you, let him be eternally condemned! 9 As we have already said, so now I say again: If anybody is preaching to you a gospel other than what you accepted, let him be eternally condemned!

1 Cor. 2:1 And I, when I came to you, brothers, did not come proclaiming to you the testimony of God with lofty speech or wisdom. 2 For I decided to know nothing among you except Jesus Christ and him crucified.

  1. It’s not that people have a problem believing in Angels, it’s that people have a problem believing Jesus IS the son of God. Angels are very popular among non-believers. But, when you mention Jesus, you don’t get the same response. Also, the same goes for the Supernatural. It is a big subject nowadays, very popular because of Supernatural show on WB, Ghost Hunters, and every Demon possession movie. Again, I say, people have a problem with Jesus.

  2. you are twisting what Mr. Bentley has said.

  3. Don’t listen to or read the message of God in Revelation then. Read your Bible and pray the spirit of Elijah is here today, and just like ‘the religious’ did then they do today. Jesus is the King and commands that his people fight beside Him in the spiritual battle.

Hello, Let me start off by saying that I share the same convictions as you (or should I say know the Truth as you do) in regards to Todd Bentley and his so-called “revival”. Unfortunately for me this has caused division in my immediate family and caused me to leave my church, a church which was a cell group off of the TACF (Toronto Airport Fellowship, formerly Toronto Vineyard). I was forwarded the attached “Theological Response to Criticism of the Lakeland Outpouring and Todd Bentley” by my father (who, until now hasn’t spoken/corresponded with me regarding this important issue since I left his/our church). If you will notice, as you scroll down in the body of this email, the paper was done for John Arnott, who, as you may or may not know is the pastor of the TACF. Please respond to me at: I’m praying that you, or someone you are connected with will have the time and skill to respond to this paper.

    God Bless,

  5. Angels? very common place in scriptures, actually listed 204 times, 70 n Revelataions alone. Why?
they are messengers. Christians seem afraid of them because of deception.
Yet scripture says we will judge them with Christ.
Have you people asked Jesus Himself if this is evil or not are you offering comments based on others opinions?
This is all about Jesus, we as His messengers, ambassadors, arms and legs and… are told to love, do we do that? I have been to conferences and seen how we act reserving seats and not preferring one another.
Angels all through the bible, release new things God is doing.
    Suspicious? or discernment.
Discernment comes from a personal revelation of who Jesus is in you and what He has called you to do, not another, identifying Jesus in others.
Can you see Jesus in you? Do you love like He loved?
Now look at Todd, can you see any of Christ in Him?
Does He preach Jesus come in the flesh- yes, I have heard him do so, read the chapter of 1 John 4 that many are quoting against him, yet the whole thing speaks of love and unity, a recognising Jesus in our brethren.
Is he going to say or do stupid stuff too? Well i do, so i can expect him too, the spotlight is on him almost 24/7 i say release Jesus in Him and let Jesus show himself more and more, let him release Jesus more and more in the flesh and the flesh will scream and die and we will walk in His resurrection and not our own false humility, but we will ebgin to stop preaching with enticing words of mans wisdom and will start walking in the demonstration of the Spirit and in power. We will start looking like Christs body and not splinter cells and the world will see His glory not our words. Release Jesus do not bind ministers, and you will see amazing works, signs and wonders.
i came from a background that denied the power of the Holy Spirit, yet was baptised in the Holy Ghost and worshipped Jesus but had to prove it by speaking in tongues.
If a person manifested in the meeting, they were quickly taken out and referred to a psychiatrist.
so i know i am a reformer of my own thoughts as i know more of HIm, His ways, His love and His ministry to the lost and the saved who worship in word only.

  6. Could Todd Bentley be another Jim Jones? In the early stages of his ministry there are striking similarities between Bentley and Jones. In 1955, Jones was prayed for a Latter Rain Pentecostal Conference by O.L. Jaggers who pronounced that he had a very special prophetic calling on his life. Years later when he founded the People’s Temple, Jones used faith healing to draw the masses much in the same way Bentley has in Lakeland. It may be a little premature to say Bentley is treading the same course as Jones, but I think it is a possibility we must be aware of. After all no one ever thought Jones would go to the extent he did by getting 918 people to commit suicide through drinking kool-aid laced with cyanide. Bentley’s claims show that he is very dangerous spiritually as he has placed much emphasis on angels, third heaven experiences, and has claimed experiences where his spirit left his body which is known to New Agers as astral projection. Could Bentley be even more than just a spiritual danger? Could he be leading his followers down the same course that Jim Jones led the People’s Temple in 1978 to the greatest mass cult suicide in history? I am drawing the comparisons and revealing Bentley’s false teachings at

  7. THis whole things SMACKS of a form of angel worship. The same sort that the End-Time Handmaidens (Engeltal, Jasper, Arkansas) teaches. THose who attend Engeltal will indeed praise Bentley for his work… and The teachings of those who follow the tachings of Gwen Shaw, of Engeltal, are dangerous.

Bentley seems to be teaching a strong form of Angel worship which is a damning doctrine which is infiltrating our churches.

It’s essential that we teach Jesus Christ of Nazareth, Hihs life, His Crucifixion, and His resurrection, then the power of the Holy Ghost.

Angels? Well, lucifer is the Angel of Light and he’s using his devils, the fallen ‘angels,’ are ‘angels’ of light who appear good, but are unGodly entities who are here to “kill, steal, and destroy” the Believers.
